Feedback Needed!

We’re working on a funding opportunity for Healy Lake and Chiefs’ Landing—a proposal to build two safe and accessible dock sites. This plan is part of a federal grant application to the U.S. Department of Transportation (MARAD). It’s a competitive program, which means many communities are applying, and only some will be chosen. That’s why your input and support are so important.

What We’re Proposing:

  • A strong dock and ramp that’s easy to use for everyone, including Elders and people in wheelchairs

  • A waiting shelter with heat and benches

  • A safe fuel handling area with spill mats and fencing

  • A clean, dry toilet that works in winter

  • A gravel parking area for trucks and trailers

  • Solar-powered lighting

  • A helicopter pad for emergencies

  • Tools and sheds for snow and ice safety

  • Plants and erosion control to protect the land and riverbank

Timeline:

  • Now through mid-July 2025 – We are finalizing the proposal

  • July 1st – The Tribal Council will review and vote to support it

  • Mid-July – The application is submitted to MARAD

  • Late 2025 – We hope to hear back if we were selected

  • Summer 2026 – Construction could begin if funded

We Want Your Ideas!

We want this proposal to reflect what the community needs and values most. Your comments can help make this project stronger and show funders that we are united in our vision.

This is a big step toward safer, healthier access to the water for everyone. Thank you for being part of it.
